About Susan

I assist my clients in identifying and reaching their real estate goals by blending business and organizational skills with good communication and real estate expertise. I specialize in residential, country and luxury property for buyers, sellers and investors.

My goals:

  • To listen and clarify clients’ wants and needs
  • To communicate well and to educate my clients, especially first time homebuyers
  • To create an effective team and facilitate the process so it goes smoothly
  • To consult with my sellers’ on how to prepare their home for sale
  • To aggressively market my sellers’ homes
  • To negotiate well on my clients’ behalf so that their goals are met or exceeded
  • To earn my clients’ trust so they want to refer their friends and family members to me

Building lifelong relationships with my clients is my guiding principle. Most of my clients come to me by referral from people who know and trust me and who respect my integrity. In appreciation, I offer extra services such as providing regular mailings containing useful information and invitations to my "Invest in Your Home" seminars. These seminars are free and a lot of fun! They are designed for current home owners as well as soon-to-be home owners. Past topics have included: Landscaping as an Investment, Remodeling, Feng Shui, Painting Techniques and Decorative Painting, Window Treatments, Use of Color, and Real Estate Investing. They are a "Thank You!" to all of my wonderful clients and to my friends for all of their referrals.

Professional Background

I’ve had a long history in service professions, and I see real estate as being all about service. My background includes being director of a community health clinic in Palo Alto, business manager for an educational non-profit in Menlo Park and development director for a private school in Sonoma County. I was also a licensed marriage and family therapist in Sonoma County for ten years and a hospice and hospital volunteer. Currently, I’m on the Board of Directors for a local organization, Bread for the Journey, which supports community projects through seed grants, and through Coldwell Banker, I help fundraise for local Habitat for Humanity.

Personal Background

Born and raised in Palo Alto, I moved to Sonoma County in 1978; the train still ran down the middle of Sebastopol's Main Street when I chose this beautiful county as the place where I wanted to raise my family. Through the years I've been involved in various school, music, sports and community activities. I'm married to William Hazelwood, a broadcast and video producer and director, and I have two children, Carly and Jonah Stuart and two step-children, Kai and Kena Hazelwood - all between the ages of 21 & 25. My love for Sonoma County and my extensive knowledge of the area and of country living are benefits I bring to my clients.
